Flying High in Beverly Hills
H-Town flying enthusiasts hobnob with John Travolta, Harrison Ford, others at air fest
Keith Mosing probably never imagined when he was a kid growing up in south Louisiana that his interest in flying would lead him to a life among the stars — as in Hollywood stars.
Mosing credits that early interest in flying, ignited by his father, as an instrumental tool in building the success of Frank's International, the oilfield services company founded by his grandfather. The retired Franks' CEO and Western Airways chairman has flown planes and opened offices worldwide for the family company.
Friday night Mosing was far removed from those oil fields as he was joined by his wife, Alice, in Beverly Hills at the Living Legends of Aviation gala, presented by the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association.
The Beverly Hilton hotel ballroom oozed with Hollywood stars including long-time friend John Travolta. In July of 1980, Mosing flew with Travolta, when he was in Houston for the premiere of Urban Cowboy. Following the movie opening, Mosing escorted the film's star to Gilley's, where much of the story took place.
Travolta and Harrison Ford were among those that the Mosings partied with during the spectacular weekend, that included guests such as former Air Force test pilot and fighter pilot Bob Hoover and astronaut Gene Cernan.
