They're just about perfect: United employees win a free car for not missing work
David Burr and Kelvin Jones were two happy Houstonians on Tuesday. The two United Airlines employees were among 11 workers who received a new 2015 car. During a ceremony at Bush Intercontinental Airport, United chairman, president and CEO Jeff Smisek presented Burr and Jones with Ford Explorers in recognition of their perfect attendance over a six-month period.
Of the thousands of employees eligible, United randomly selected 11 winners in a drawing. Each winner could choose among four Ford models – the Escape, Explorer, Fusion Hybrid and Taurus.
Burr, who works as a station support coordinator at Bush, and Jones, a lead customer service representative at Bush, were the only employees able to drive home from the ceremony. The other winners, including a pilot, flight attendants and an aircraft maintenance technician, live in other cities.
“At United, we are committed to delivering a reliable, flyer-friendly experience for our customers,” said Donna Towle, vice president of employee relations at United. “These outstanding employees exemplify that commitment, and this program is one way we recognize their dedication.”
