Rockin' the boat: Cruise featuring music stars from '50s and '60s set to sail from Houston
Rock-and-rollers plan to steer through Houston on a '50s and '60s music cruise headed to Western Caribbean waters. After 20 years of embarking from Florida, Concerts at Sea is switching to the Bayport Cruise Terminal at the Port of Houston for the seven-day cruise, departing Jan. 18, 2014.
"Princess offers a Western Caribbean itinerary that our clients have been asking for, but it only departs from Houston," says Concerts at Sea spokesperson Tammy Selee. "Our passengers have never visited Belize, and it has been several years since we have visited Roatan and Cozumel."
Selee says Concerts at Sea attracts passengers ages 55-75 who love rock n' roll from their formative years. "We also bring onboard dance hosts for unescorted women, a '50s and '60s house band ... plus a lot of other great events that focus on the music of this era."
Paul Revere of Paul Revere and The Raiders will captain the music portion of the Texas inaugural excursion. Other entertainers include B.J. Thomas, Mary Wilson of The Supremes, The Cowsills and Charlie Thomas of The Drifters. Passengers will meet the musicians and enjoy concerts, dance parties and sock hops, autograph sessions, dance lessons, trivia games and even one-on-one conversations with the entertainers.
Prices range from $1,299 per person double occupancy for an inside cabin to $1,949 for a mini-suite (also per person double occupancy).
