Since its opening some two decades ago, Hotel Derek has stood as a moniker for over-the-top contemporary design. But not since then has the hotel undergone such an updating as its recently re-imagined concept suites.
Think edgy, colorful and contemporary chic. That's what visitors to the hotel will find when they check into the 500-square-foot suites with engaging themes such as Wrangler, Freedom, Behave and Daydream.
Interior designer Gail McCleese of Gensler headed the project for the Destination Hotels property. " “I love this hotel. It’s so brave in its approach," she says. "Hotel Derek steps outside typical boundaries, making it exactly what a designer looks for in a project.”
The psychedelic wallpaper in the Behave Suite and the space odyssey vibe of the Balanced Suite are what adventurous guests might expect from a lifestyle, independent brand such as Hotel Derek.
Each suite boasts a playful approach to its theme with vibrant color and decor and inviable views through floor-to-ceiling windows that offer views of the downtown skyline, River Oaks or the Galleria.
The suites are priced from $500 per night.
