Houston hero almost missed the airline flight where he saved the day: Ben Rose'sreal-life drama
Ben Harwood Rose wasn't supposed to be on the U.S. Airways flight from Los Angeles to Phoenix.
Rose had to push back his initial departure when he lost his cell phone at Coachella (his sister, reality princess Erica Rose, bought him a ticket to the music festival), and a longer-than-anticipated stop at an outlet mall between Palm Springs and LA almost caused him to miss the rescheduled flight, the first leg of Rose's journey back to Houston.
But the Houstonian stepped off that flight an unlikely hero.
Another passenger aboard that plane attempted to run over the flight attendant with a drink cart. Rose, who was sleeping in seat 4D in first class, stepped in to restrain the passenger and save the day before the irate passenger could get any closer to the cockpit.
"I wasn't thinking about anything," Rose tells CultureMap. "I was just doing what I had to."
FBI agents rushed onto the plane when it landed and took the drink cart charger into custody. Though his reactions were instantaneous, Rose was rewarded with a shout out at the Phoenix airport.
"I've had a thousand different reactions to it," Rose says. Almost two full days after the flight, Rose admits he is still reeling from the shock of the incident.
