Hotwire is hot for Houston: Touts city as one of 10 best value destinations inAmerica
On the heels of Budget Travel naming Houston one of the hottest budget destinations around the globe, H-Town has earned another boost from Hotwire.
Internet travel agent Hotwire created the Hotwire Travel Value Index for budget-minded vacationers (and isn't that everyone, these days?) that indexes the average cost and discounts in traveling to 75 American cities including airfare, hotels and car rental, as well as the availability and affordability of entertainment.
Out of the 75, Houston ended up in the top 10 at No. 6. According to Hotwire,
The nation's fourth-largest city offers something for everyone. With its impressive array of skyscrapers, parks, museums and shops, downtown Houston exudes both cosmopolitan vivacity and old-school Southern charm. This town ranks high on our list for offering big discounts on travel and sunny year-round weather."
Houston earned one of the highest discount ratings, but fell behind Dallas-Fort Worth, which earned a No. 1 spot at the top of the list based on its surfeit of affordable high-quality hotels and entertainment. Atlanta, Orlando, Tampa and Phoenix rounded out the top five.
