Bounce your way to extreme fun: Sky High Sports debuts Houston's newest indoortrampoline park
Why merely jump on the surface when you can also bounce off the walls? That's exactly what you'll be asking yourself after a visit to Houston's newest indoor trampoline park.
We hate to be the ones to say it, but move over, bed jumping — the bizarre Internet craze has found its successor at Sky High Sports, sure to make any adventurist's legs quiver with anticipation.
With a main court that's five trampolines wide (seven if you count the ones on the wall) by 12 trampolines long (including the walls makes 14), a dodgeball court, a private court, a kids court, a toddler court, a foam pit, and a kids foam pit, up to 200 people can jump until they can't jump anymore.
At Sky High Sports, a boingy Beltway haven awaits you. You no longer have to imagine 55,000 square feet of pure bouncing bliss all under one roof. It's real.
"Anyone that has the wiggles can get the wiggles out here," said general manager Paul Atkins. "If you can walk, you can jump."
If that's not the understatement of the year, we're not sure what is.
Jump sessions are purchased an hour at a time, with no limit as to how many hours a day you can bounce off the walls.
Lest you think the adolescents get to have all the fun, it's not just for the kiddos, either. "We have a demographic of all proportions. People are looking for active entertainment," said Atkins. "They're adding something different to their already active lifestyles."
But this can't possibly be a workout, can it?
"It's an extreme sport, but only as extreme as you make it," said Atkins. "I have a friend who's an avid runner, and after 15 minutes, he was sweaty and worn out. You use so many core muscles while jumping."
To add awesome to amazing, the extremity of the sport will be encouraged over the next few months. "We'll be launching monthly dodgeball tournaments and regular Airobics classes," said Atkins.
We'd be remiss if we didn't tell you that there's Wi-Fi throughout the building, not to mention an arcade, a lounge, and a café. But we know you are already sold on bouncing off the walls. After getting in on a little bit of the boingy-boingy-boingy action ourselves, we've flipped over the latest facility dedicated to fun. Skill levels of all types are welcomed, and taking a seat to watch some agile acrobats take to the springs is encouraged.
Luckily for you, you can bounce your brains out as soon as this weekend. Sky High Houston celebrates its grand opening on Saturday, where you can jump from noon to 6 p.m. for free. Grab a free hot dog, too — while your feet are on the ground.
