Red hot wheels for J.J. Watt: Texans hunk cruises Houston streets in Ford commercial
Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt is snapping his famous salute for football fans and Ford enthusiasts alike in an F-Series commercial that kicks off the regular NFL season.
The commercial aired Sept. 5 as "Salute," the first in a series of five Watt-centric ads for Houston Area Ford Dealers. Local production company Texas Video & Post teamed up with Ford and NFL Films to create the spot.
The Ford endorsement is one of several commercial successes for Watt, who also inked an agreement with H-E-B.
In the commercial, the reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year, behind tinted glass, casually drives a red 2014 model by the construction site of the new University of Houston football stadium, past David Adickes' colorful We Heart Houstonsculpture on Interstate 10 West and other Houston locations. Throughout the ad, people young and old halt mid-step to extend a greeting as Watt passes by.
The hunky hero stops the truck and steps out just long enough to seal the deal: "I'm proud to be a member of the Ford team. They're the best in Texas."
