Mayor-Elect Brings Glad Tidings
Mayor-elect Turner delivers good news to Hispanic Advisory Board at holiday party
It was thunderous applause from the 350 partygoers when Mayor-elect Sylvester Turner announced to the Mayor's Hispanic Advisory Board gathering that he fully intends to continue the board in his administration. And that was the best gift of all at this annual holiday reception.
The group took over Café Adobe in the MarqE Center for the celebration chaired by Lauren Soliz and Lenora Sorola-Pohlman.
As chairman of the advisory board, attorney Roland Garcia led the program that included gifts to Mayor Annise Parker and city board liaisons Jenn Char and Jackie Schuessler-Kimsey. David Medina presented the outgoing mayor gifts from Rice University including a Rice Santa's cap, which she immediately donned.
The heavy-hitter gathering included Metro chairman Gilbert Garcia, Rose Garcia Moriarty, controller-elect Chris Brown, State Rep. Gene Wu and Miya Shay, State Rep. Sylvia Garcia, UH Downtown president William Flores, Harris County Attorney Vince Ryan, Judge Richard Vara, Judge Barbara Hartle, Karen Garcia, Art Contreras, Lolita Guerrero and City Council members Stephen Costello, Jack Christie and Robert Gallegos and City Councilwoman-elect Karla Cisneros and Tim Cisneros.
