Hudson Lounge takes on an opera vibe with party for HGO Ovation Awardsrecipients
OK, so no one really expected to hear Puccini or Verdi at the hippest of hip Hudson Lounge on Wednesday night even if it was a Houston Grand Opera event. The young professionals making the scene were there to mix and mingle and to salute the 2011 Ovations Awards recipients.
Sleek and sophisticated, more California-cool than H-Town hot, Hudson offered just the right vibe for the grooming of future HGO patrons.
For the fifth year, the awards saluting community leaders under the age of 40 went to 10 up-and-coming (and some already well-established) movers and shakers. Applause, applause for recipients Sarah Bray, Bridget Johnson, Kristy Junco, Claire Cormier Thielke, Roula Zoghbi, John Andell, Nick Espinosa, Jeremy Radcliffe, John Ransom II and Stephen R. White.
The crowd munched on generous bites from nearby Benjy's (chef Dylan Murray helped Hudson with its bar menu) and sipped on an assortment of libations compliments of Three Olives Vodka, which on this night was pushing its Purple flavor. The jury is still out on that one.
Joining the party were Elena Markova, Nic Phillips, Isabel David, Rufus Cormier, Annette Kelly, Jeff Gremillion Danny Rashid, James Glassman, Courtney Cole, Hasti Taghi, Miya Shay, Mark Yzaguirre, Ember Hull, Heather Pray and Carlos Meltzer.
