Holiday Schmooze puts a lot of jingle into the Center for AIDS Kris Kringlecelebration
The approach to the swell River Oaks home of Melanie Gray and Mark Wawro is a wonderland of Christmas lights as houses all across the swank 'hood light up the night in holiday spirit. So by the time the 200 guests attending the Center for AIDS' Holiday Schmooze began pulling into the drive, they were already in a very merry mood.
And it was a joyful evening. As is tradition with the "schmooze," the Center for AIDS lines up a great house with generous hosts, a combo that guarantees a good attendance. So on this night in the graceful Southern-style mansion, uniformed waiters offered tempting trays of adult libations and party food from Jackson & Co. Guests moved indoors and outdoors to celebrate the season.
In the process, the group raised close to $200,000 for the agency that provides information and advocacy for HIV/AIDS patients and for others.
Joining Melanie and Mark in overseeing the successful holiday party were co-chairs Steve Loden and Larry Lovins.
The festive crowd included Jackson Hicks and Milton Townsend, Julie and Wayne Eberly, Tripp Carter, Carl Moore, Joe Nelson, Betty Newton, Franci and Jim Crane, Alton LaDay and Jonathan Glus, Ginni and Richard Mithoff, Terry Wayne Jones, Bill Caudell and Kathryn and Jim Ketelsen.
