You simply cannot go wrong with headliners that include Bob Devlin, Scott McClelland, Holly Moore, Dancie Ware and Sheridan Williams. And that was the stellar line-up tapped by the University of Houston's Retailing and Consumer Science program to take its annual Merchandising Star Awards luncheon to a new level.
The River Oaks Country Club ballroom was filled Wednesday with friends of the VIPs and supporters of the program that provides scholarships and academic advancement in the College of Technology's Department of Human Development and Consumer Science. Ware chaired the successful luncheon, which was emceed by KPRC Channel 2 news anchor Dominique Sachse, a UH grad and another star in the luncheon program. Williams, also a UH grad, served as honorary chair.
Receiving honors as Merchandising Star Awards recipients were McClelland, president of H-E-B Houston; Devlin, Neiman Marcus general manager; and Moore, PaperCity co-founder and editor. Two students in the College of Technology were honored with Rising Star scholarships — Calixto Meija and Camille Simmons. College Dean William Fitzgibbon III led the program.
Among those learning about the Retailing and Consumer Science program were Roz Pactor, Linda McReynolds, Bruce Padilla, Kelli Blanton, David Peck, Patrice Ferguson, Bobbie Nau, Paige Fertitta, Vicki Rizzo, Phoebe Tudor and Armando Perez.
