What's gayer than gay? The new MyGayHouston.com
Gaggles of gay men and women and their groupies gathered at Midtown's Sushi Raku to fête MyGayHouston.com 2.0. Celebrating the Greater Houston Convention and Visitor Bureau's specialty website's first year, the party also inaugurated a new era in Houston's homo image. The new site boasts a plethora of robust editorial content, spotlighting restaurant, arts, shopping and nightlife listings and community info for the gay-on-the-go.
Amping up the gaydar at Midtown's Mix was DJ Joy De La O and the evening's emcee and new face of My Gay Houston, A.J. Mistretta.
Among the special guests was Gay.com editor in chief Richard Andreoli, making a stop in Houston to promote his site's move to cover more local communities. The crew of cuties made a good impression — states Andreoli on Gay.com,
"Houston boys are HOT! ... here's the deal: Houston guys aren't just cute, they're also super nice. Seriously. I didn't find any big city attitude, instead meeting guys who were happy to chat you up and let you into their lives.
The website salute packed a private room at Raku with such glam gents as Gray Thornton and Ted Bowen, Nathan Joel Kasselder, James Taylor and fab femmes including a glowing Fiona Dawson, DiverseWorks' Diane Barber and Karen Niemeier, while the ever-lovely Lindsey Folger Brown and Laurette Cañizares repped the Bureau. Cocktails courtesy of Camarena Tequila and Tito's Handmade Vodka quenched the queers' throats, while gargantuan Ooh La La cupcakes put the art of unlocking jaws to the test.
"We're doing some amazing things," Mistretta gushed to the crowd. "We're making more dedicated content geared to visitors, too — what brunches to hit, what shops to see. These are all things that people want to know," he said. "And we're going to give it to them."
