Outdoor party is a festive "Picnic in the Park" for Knowledge Arts Foundation
The tables were covered in red-and-white checked cloths and dressed in bouquets of colorful flowers. The picnic baskets were filled with ingredients for assembling dinner. And the 250 supporters of the Knowledge Arts Foundation arrived at Jones Plaza to party — picnic style.
The second annual "Picnic in the Park" took place on a balmy night just right for outdoor festivities and with gourmet picnic ingredients from Central Market, it was a happening. It was also a great night for checking out the 2013 BMW 3 series from Momentum BMW Southwest offered in the raffle.
Welcoming guests to the party scene were picnic chair Connie Reeves Cookeand Knowledge Arts Foundation founders Susan Krohn and Mary Yenik.
Stars of the picnic program were emcee Lisa Malosky; C. Martinez Elementary School principal Alma Perez and Cullen Middle School principal Clayton Crook, who gave testimonials on the foundation's programs; and New Orleans singing talent Mary Griffin, who performed with the Ernest Walker Band.
Picnic pals included Soraya and Scott McClelland (whose H-E-B was presenting sponsor), Paul-David Van Atta, Sandy and Dr. Barney Barrett, Kristina Hornberger and Paul Somerville, Joann and Bill Crassas, Clayton Cooke, Patrick Gehm, Diane Gendel and City Councilman Oliver Pennington.
