The fabulousness of H-Town's lunching ladies sets Tootsies afire at Dec My Roomluncheon
New York Fashion Week had nothing on Houston at midday Friday when a clutch of well-heeled women poured into Tootsies in the name of charity and maybe a little high-style shopping as well. The turnout for the second annual Dec My Room luncheon doubled over last year with almost 200 strikingly trendy women dripping in designer labels.
Leading the high-fashion pack was Dec My Room founder Susan Plank, stunning in a form fitting Versace and luncheon chairs Sarah Simon in body-hugging Dolce & Gabbana and Amy Lee in a sassy taupe-hued frock that she had picked up at the recent March of Dimes Labor Day Luncheon from the French Cuff boutique.
While the informal modeling during lunch featured the designs of KaufmanFranco, the ladies on this day embraced the season's love for animal prints. Sarah's dress featured a purple and black leopard print. Among those also showing their stripes or spots or other animal motif were Mehrnaz Gill in Calvin Klein, Pepper Edens in lady-like leopard dress by Isabel Marant and Christie Sulliva in a feminine lace and leopard look from Dolce & Gabbana.
An appealing note to this event each year are the male celebrity waiters who welcome the ladies at the door with trays of bubbly. Count Houston magazine's Jeff Gremillion, Urban Retreat's Edward Sanchez and Cerón Salon's namesake Cerón (still wearing a bootie from his recent foot surgery) as the gents who stepped up to the plate on Friday.
Jewelry designers Jude Steele-Clark and Frances Gadbois added loads of bling to the happening with their JudeFrancis collection of diamond-laced baubles.
Among those supporting the non-profit that personalizes and decorates hospital rooms of children with severe illnesses were Dec My Room co-founder Kendall Plank (Susan Plank's daughter), founding director Shelley Barineau, Terri Havens, Mindy Hildebrand, Nidhika Mehta, Brittany Tribble, Millette Sherman, Shushana Castle, Phyllis Williams, Kimberly DeLape, Gina Bhatia, Dee Dee Guggenheim, Merele Yarborough, DeeDee Marsh and Kelli Weinzierl.
And, of course, loving it all from his vaunted position as Tootsies owner was Mickey Rosmarin, who joined Susan Plank at her table where the jewelry designers were special guests.
