Best after party ever? Dancing and DJs with violins keep Louvre bash going into early morning hours
PARIS — You would think that after three days of nonstop social events, those attending Liaisons au Louvre Trois would adjourn to their hotel rooms after Diana Ross finished her performance under the Louvre pyramid just after midnight last Wednesday and get some well-deserved rest.
Mais, non!
Still dressed in tuxes and ballgowns, guests walked along a red carpet in the main courtyard of the famed French museum about 50 yards to Café Marly, the chic restaurant located under the arcades of the Richelieu wing. They gathered on the terrace overlooking the Pyramid and the Cour Napoleon under a half moon and danced into the early hours of the morning.
“We’ve decided we’re only going to parties thrown by Texans,” vbeauté founder Julie Macklowe told Women's Wear Daily. "They're the most fun."
Not surprisingly, the Houston contingent led the way, busting moves on the dance floor to the nonstop tunes from The Dolls, a New York DJ duo that's a favorite of the fashion crowd. DJ Mia Moretti mixes current tracks from the likes of Jay-Z, Justin Timberlake, Daft Punk and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs with classic tunes from the Bee Gees, Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson while Caitlin Moe plays the electronic violin on selected songs.
Leading the way were Henry Richardson, Fady Armanious, Diane Lokey Farb with Mark Sullivan, Renée Lewis Cary, Melissa Mithoff, Joyce Echols, Greggory Burk, Hallie Vanderhider, Cerón and Elizabeth Petersen.
The Texans' enthusiasm was so contagious that they were joined on the dance floor by a host of New Yorkers, including Hamish Bowles and Julie Macklowe, along with the young New Orleans duo of Grace Catherine Cary and Rives Cary and a swarm of titled Europeans.
“We’ve decided we’re only going to parties thrown by Texans,” Macklowe told Women's Wear Daily. “They’re the most fun.”
After the party finally broke up around 6 a.m., a number of Houstonians headed to the bar at Hotel Le Bristol bar and tuned into the epic Game 6 of the NBA finals between the San Antonio Spurs and Miami Heat via satellite dish.
Alas, the party really was over.
