Dennis Miller & Lee Majors team up to deliver big laughs and help raise $950,000 in River Oaks
With the serious mission of raising funds for brain cancer research at the core of the evening, the Broach Foundation dinner was full of laughs. And how could it not be with comedianDennis Miller as headliner and with Lee Majors providing a surprise video spoof of his Six Million Dollar Manrole?
The River Oaks Country Club ballroom was filled with laughter as Miller and Majors provided the humor and filled with applause as M.D. Anderson president Dr. Ron DePinho and Dr. Frederick Lang, Anderson director of clinical research in the Department of Neurosurgery, delivered the serious messages of the night.
Miller proved to be a gregarious guest, mixing with supporters and posing for photos in the pre-dinner cocktail hour.
All in all, it was a great night for the Broach Foundation for Brain Cancer Research founders and dinner chairs Jamie and James Broach, who saw this second annual event raise $950,000, an astonishing success for a fledgling dinner fundraiser. The monies fund brain cancer research at M.D. Anderson.
Joining them in the effort were Lee Majors and wife Faith Majors, Dr. Raymond Sawaya, Liane and Marty Phillips, Kim and Chuck Yates, Carolyn and Gary Tanner, David and Janet Cunningham, Danny and Emily Weingeist and Courtney and Mark Teshoian.
