Young professionals down 104 bottles of tequila as margaritas rule a record night
Will Hughes Hangar ever be the same? It's questionable after 600 thirsty partygoers poured in for Candlelighters Young Professionals Group's fifth annual margarita taste-off.
In fact, so thirsty and wired was this crowd that the generous allotment of tequila started running low before the bash ended. Liquor sponsor Don Julio to the rescue. The team doubled its donation and rounded up plenty of additional fire water. The throng consumed 104 bottles before it was over.
Chairs Trey McCord, John Rhodes and Aron Will orchestrated the bash that set attendance and fundraising records. More than $21,000 was collected for Candlelighters.
The YPs sampled and voted on margaritas and appetizers from a variety of watering holes/restaurants while Austin's Sensual Soul provided the background music. Emma's Mexican Grill out of Pearland took top honors while Maria Selma locked in the second most votes and SlimRitas margaritas came in third with that group's set up winning best booth. El Patio won in the Best Appetizer category.
Joining the three musketeers on the party scene were Jeremy Keating, Abby Frizzell, Allie and Sam Veselka, Beth Bryant, David Escudero, Kara McNutt, Michelle Balino, Vanessa Lopez, Holly and Jay Beasley, Roula Zoghbi and Tyler Smith, Trey McCord and Kim Elliott.
