City of immigrants: University of Houston Law Center celebrates four success stories
What: The University of Houston Law Center Arrival Awards dinner.
Where: River Oaks Country Club.
What: Four leading Houstonians were honored for their outstanding achievements in their careers and in the community since immigrating to the United States. Arrival Award recipients were Sofia Adrogué, Law Center class of ’91, of Gray Reed & McGraw; Taseer Badar, ZT Wealth and Altus Health; Mary Foreman, philanthropist; and Dr. Adan Rios, of the University of Texas Medical Branch. Former heavyweight boxing champion George Foreman accepted the award on behalf of his wife who was unable to attend.
Proceeds from the evening support the Law Center Immigration Clinic. Videos of the lives of the honorees provided "tangible evidence of the crucial importance of immigrants to our economy, society and nation," noted associate clinical professor Geoffrey A. Hoffman.
