This Mardi Gras party raises tons of green as college king and queen represent in River Oaks
What: The University of St. Thomas 64th annual Mardi Gras gala.
Where: At River Oaks Country Club.
The 411: With the ballroom decorated in the Mardi Gras colors of purple, green and gold, the gala enriched the university scholarship fund with plenty of green — $800,000. Applause, applause for chairs Ginny and Dennis Malloy. The fundraiser honored Cardinal Daniel DiNardo, a member of the UST board of directors. Representing the student body on this black-tie evening were UST Mardi Gras King and Queen Cody Miller and Meredith Smith. Key figures on the program were UST president Bob Ivany, emcee Lisa Malosky and auctioneer Rusty Mertink. The Murray Ward Dance Band provided music for the merrymaking that came to an end at midnight when the Lenten season began.
