Montgomery County Heart Ball nets $900,000 proving that The Woodlands social scene rocks
Any doubters of the vibrant social scene that exists north of the Houston city limits, need look no further than The Woodlands Waterway Marriott where the FMC Technologies "Fifty Shades of Red" gala drew a glam crowd of more than 700 and raised a net of close to $900,000 for the American Heart Association.
Led by gala chairs Suzanne and Bob Potter, the event drew the best of the best from across Montgomery County as well as a few souls who drove in from Houston proper. The turnout and record proceeds were due in no small part to the much-admired honoreesCandi and Gerald Glenn.
The Egyptian revival bracelet went for a jaw-dropping $70,000.
(It was Candi's birthday so Gerald had a surprise cake brought out while they were on stage and the entire ballroom joined in singing "Happy Birthday.")
AHA execs were giddy not only over the full take but also by the fact that the bottom line was enhanced by a record breaking $355,000 raised that night through the silent and live auctions and the Open Your Heart plea. Consider, for example, that the Egyptian revival bracelet went for a jaw-dropping $70,000 and that during the Open Your Heart plea, six individuals raised their paddles for $10,000 donations.
Celebrating in the livable forest were Cindy and John Gremp, Jeanne and Peter Kinnear, Theresa and Lamar Roemer, Stacey and Steve Bourque, Diane and George Lindahl, Dawn and Richard Rawson, Soly and Bruce Lachterman, Marie and Jeff Carr, Maryann and Tim Seaman and Margie Van Elten and Joe Blommaert.
