The 411: The fundraiser, "Lasso Your Heart for the Park," attended by 400 western-attired guests, spread from the new center into party tents that lapped the edges of the inner-city green space.
Tammy Jenkins and Camille Patton chaired the evening that raised $350,000 for park coffers and saluted the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo for its longtime support of the conservancy. For almost six decades, Memorial Park has served as the wayside for trail riders on their way to the annual rodeo parade in downtown.
City Kitchen provided the western-themed dinner (love those jalapeno cheese grits and duco tacos with avocados!) while Austin-based Wood & Wire delivered the sounds that kept guests boot scootin' through the party landscape. As part of the festivities, Crestwood Garden Club was awarded the 2015 Ima Hogg Service Award.
