a pink wonderland
Totally IG-worthy Dallas restaurant bubbles up in River Oaks with posh pink decor and cool 'champagne' button
A female-oriented Dallas bar and restaurant has set its sights on Houston. Postscript HTX will open this fall in the Shops at Arrive River Oaks, the mixed-use development at the corner of Kirby and Westheimer that’s home to modern Indian restaurant Pondicheri, iconic clothing store Tootsie’s, and the Milk + Honey spa.
Founded by partners in Dallas’s whimsical XOXO Dining Room, Postscript HTX will bring that establishment’s successful formula to River Oaks. Those elements includes pink walls, plush furniture, lots of photo-worthy elements, and XOXO’s signature “champagne button” to summon a bottle of bubbles.
CultureMap Dallas notes that XOXO co-founder Maria Lagios took inspiration from Sketch London, a tea room and lounge that features a pink dining room. The owners of Postscript anticipate creating a similar environment that's slightly tweaked for the Bayou City.
“We love the safe, supportive and high energy environment that has occurred organically in Dallas at XOXO Dining Room, and we’re aiming for the same at PostScript HTX with an experience tailor-made for this sophisticated site,” co-owner Veeral Rathod said in a statement. “And while our focus is female forward, we have refined our design and concept in Houston to be friendlier to our male clientele.”
The new restaurant will occupy the former Del Frisco Grille space that’s been empty since 2018. Its 9,300-square-foot space will seat almost 400 in its main dining room, along with a 75-seat cocktail lounge, two patios, and a 42-seat private dining room. Designers Jeffrey Abel of Abel Design Group and Erin Hicks will work with construction firm Construction Concepts to bring Postscript to life.
Rathod and partner Obi Ibeto have retained Houston chef Bryan Caswell to develop Postscript’s menu, which will be built around shared plates. The chef, who earned both a Food & Wine Best New Chef award and a James Beard Award finalist nomination for his Midtown seafood restaurant Reef, indicates that Postscript plans to take its food as seriously as its decor.
If the XOXO Dining Room offerings are any indication, Caswell’s menu will likely include dishes similar dishes such as lobster mac and cheese, charcuterie boards, and hummus. Expect Instagram-worthy presentations and luxurious touches such as caviar and truffles. Cocktails and champagne will anchor the beverage list.
