KP's new kitchen
Favorite Memorial-area neighborhood restaurant taps Bellaire for 2nd locale
One of the Memorial area’s most popular neighborhood restaurants is coming to Bellaire. KP’s Kitchen will open a second location near the Bellaire Triangle in January.
Located in the former Genesis Steakhouse space at 5427 Bissonnet St., the new KP’s will occupy approximately 3,800-square-feet. Owner Kerry Pauly tells CultureMap that he always aspired to open in the area.
“I grew up in Bellaire. My friends and family all live there,” Pauly says. Later, he adds, “I always wanted to open in Bellaire. I think we’re ready. We’ve got a good leadership team.”
First opened in the Town & Country area in 2021, Pauly relocated KP’s Kitchen to a large location in the Spring Valley section of Spring Branch last year. The restaurant has built a devoted following for its classic comfort fare that includes slow cooked baby back ribs, a Gulf crab cake, and the signature KP Burger. They’re paired with beer, cocktails, and a well-priced wine list.
Pauly engages with the community in a number of ways. He’s an active participant in Facebook foodie groups. In addition, the restaurant offers specials such as kids eat free on Tuesday, steak night on Thursday, and a community giveback on Wednesday’s when the restaurant donates 10 percent of food sales to an area nonprofit.
The interior design will match the Spring Valley location. Look for large mirrors, colorful wallpaper, and a mix of booth and banquette seating. A private dining room will be available for special events. Initially, the restaurant will only be open for dinner with lunch and weekend brunch to follow.
“I think our brand will do well there, especially with the fun bar and the community involvement we plan to do,” Pauly says. “We’re really excited. I think it’s going to be great.”
