Get Dirty
Here's the Dirt: Lady Gaga's favorite Houston bar is a goner
But it should be the tits if you're looking for alternative New Year's Eve plans. Don't tell them we told you, though — they hate media types.
The Dirt Bar, a favorite haunt of semi-scary anti-mainstreamers (and Lady Gaga) and something of a hobby-cum-clubhouse for its enigmatic owners, is slated to be leveled after the new year to make way for everyone's favorite Walmart.
New Year's Eve is the last night the bar will be open in its present location, so we expect it'll get pretty dirty. Known for its all-black walls and non-belief in lighting, the no-sign bar at 222 Yale Street needs to be drank dry in preparation for its imminent demise. Feel like raging? Feel free. The building, at least, is a goner.
We've heard rumblings that the Dirt, which distinguishes itself as more of a private club, if a seedy one, is reopening on Caroline Street.
