Biscuit breakfast spot shutters Oak Forest location to concentrate on bigger Montrose space
Oak Forest residents will have one fewer breakfast option when they wake up Saturday morning. Biskit Junkie, the breakfast and lunch spot from the single-item obsessives that unleashed Jus' Mac on Houston, announced on Facebook that it will be closing its original location effective Friday.
Biskit Junkie Oak Forest will be permanently closing today. We enjoyed all those who helped get it off the ground but...
Posted by Biskit Junkie on Friday, December 11, 2015The restaurant opened in June after year-plus development process and earned fans for its biscuit-based menu of sandwiches and breakfast items. In August, the restaurant announced it had leased the former Mango's space on Westheimer for a second location that's now being revealed will be the only location, which it expects to open next month.
"That truly makes me sad," one woman writes. "The people of this neighborhood enjoyed having you here and most of us will not travel that far for breakfast when we have options. I'm sorry you are doing this."
In response to the criticism, follow up comments from the restaurant have emphasized the difficulties of executing the menu in such a small space. The Montrose location's expanded footprint should ease the problem.
