Refuting Rumors
Kraftsmen isn't closing — it's expanding and experimenting
With a brand new Kraftsmen Café set to open in November in the former Textile space, we were surprised to hear a rumor that Kraftsmen would be shutting down or cutting back delivery due to an illness of owner Scott Tycer.
"Absolutely untrue, " says Tycer, who says one of his employees has also heard rumors of imminent closing. Tycer says he's healthy and excited to open the new space and expand the Kraftsmen Café concept.
"We can do a lot more in the new café because we have a full kitchen," says Tycer, including a full breakfast service, full plates for lunch rather than just sandwiches, plus complex pastries that would be too difficult to deliver.
Tycer says he's been experimenting with bagel recipes, and has found one that stays fresh all day, as well as some cake formulas — he says this week he's working on a carrot cake. He's also planning on having an afternoon happy hour, slow-drip coffee and a preserve bar.
What he's not doing is cutting back at any of his current concepts or in his wholesale bakery.
Consider this rumor quashed.
