The first sign of fall? The City Hall Farmers Market is back — with reopeningtwists
Fall, glorious fall! I wouldn't exactly describe the weather as "crisp" yet, but any day in which the high temps top out under 90 degrees feels like paradise in Houston right now.
So what better way to celebrate than with the return of the City Hall Farmers Market? The weekly gathering of 35-plus vendors is back again for the fall season, offering downtowners fresh produce, cheese, coffee, breads and plenty of prepared foods perfect for a lunch picnic around the City Hall reflection pool.
New falls vendors include Renaissance Chicken, offering free-range chick and quail eggs; seasonal bottled juices from from Texas Juice Girl; grass-fed Kobe-style beef from Texas T Kobe Beef and Zierau Fine Foods' catfish tacos, seasoning blends and rubs.
For the fall kickoff on Wednesday, Shade and Canopy chef/owner Claire Smith and sous chef Kent Domas will perform a cooking demonstration and share samples. There also will be live music by Chris Crump & Band.
