Arrgh! A fifth-generation Houston baker tests his pirate cake skills on FoodNetwork Challenge
International Talk Like a Pirate Day may still be a few weeks away, but you can get in the buccaneer spirit this weekend — while watching a Houston chef battle on Food Network Challenge.
Bobby Jucker, the fifth-generation owner of Three Brothers Bakery, will make his second Food Network appearance of the year on Sunday night, when he joins with Beaumont's Dena Bryngelson to create an 'Extreme Pirate Cake.'
Janice Jucker blogged about the Challenge experience on the Three Brothers website, noting that to make the enormous cake Bobby and a brother drove a van to Denver with 30 full sheets of cake, 160 pounds of buttercream icing, 100 pounds of fondant, two compressors, an air gun, tips, icing bags, rolling pins, spatulas, decorating accessories and more.
The episode promises twists, turns and maybe even some plank-walking for the duo, all in the name of Food Network glory and a $10,000 prize. You can watch Jucker on Food Network Challenge on Sunday at 7 p.m.
