It's Divine time again: Saint Arnold's heavenly Divine Reserve 12 availableafter a hell of a wait
It's hard to believe that it's been over a year (15 months to be exact) since Saint Arnold Brewing Company delivered one of its signature Divine Reserve brews to Houston's semi-obsessed fans.
But as of Tuesday, the wait is finally over. That's when 3,883 cases and just under 200 kegs and casks of Divine Reserve 12 hit bars and stores across Texas. Though fans can expect competition at every liquor and grocery store in town around 10 a.m., delivery varies throughout the week and the amount released is the largest yet, so there should be a chance for those not willing or able to take a personal day to find some in stock.
Basically, this beer is a diva, but like all divas it will in all likelihood continue to be worshipped despite (or maybe even because of) it's high-maintenance personality.
The latest Divine Reserve is an Old Ale style that was inspired by David Rogers' victorious entry in the 2011 Big Batch Brew Bash, the largest single-style homebrew competition in the world (according to them, at least). Saint Arnold describes it as "a very big ale … the nose has rich malt notes and a little alcohol that combines with a spicy hop note to create a complex bouquet. The taste has a spicy, malty beginning that smoothes out into a creamy middle and a warming finish."
Saint Arnold founder Brock Wagner recommends that buyers age the beer for at least a year, preferably in a cold cellar, before consuming and that they decant it, omitting the final ounce and letting it warm up a little bit before drinking it.

Are you lining up early for #DR12? Will you be aging it or drinking it right away?
