Our first Drink Diary: Brasserie 19's French 75 packs a big bang
As drinks writers, my PII (Partner In Imbibing), Caroline Gallay, and I have the tough task of sipping cocktails from various locales and taking note of which are worth throwing back — and which you should forego. In a new Drink Diary series, we will share our top drink choices from around town with you on a regular basis.

Marcy’s Pick: The French 75 at Brasserie 19
I first caught wind of this champagne cocktail from several ladies who lunch. Traditionally made with gin, champagne, lemon juice and sugar, this version 86’s the gin for vodka. The French 75 goes down quick and easy, like lemonade on a hot summer day. But a warning: Do not let this fool you — that is merely its M.O.
Not just for the ladies, the French 75 packs a big bang. After all, it takes its name from a powerful 75-millimeter M1897 gun.
