Tony's tuxedo cake makes Esquire's list of best restaurant desserts in America
John Mariani, Esquire's roving food explorer, has a long-established love for Houston — and for Tony's.
So it's exciting, if not exactly surprising, that a Tony's dessert has made Mariani's new list of the best restaurant desserts in America in 2011.
Tony's tuxedo cake ("devil's food, mascarpone, chocolate mousse, and Heath-bar crunch") joins a prestigious list, including Café Adelaide's buttermilk bread pudding in New Orleans, ginger-flavored panna cotta from Tulsi in New York, and the chocolate mousse layer cake from David Burke Prime in Chicago. Tony's is joined by one other Texas restaurant — Dallas' Lucia also made the list with its Bittersweet-chocolate budino with salted caramel and orange cream.
Do you think Tony's has the best restaurant dessert in Houston? I think arguments could also be made for Brennan's Bananas Foster, Churrasco's tres leches and anything from Bootsie's pastry chef Chris Leung. What are your faves?
