God save the king: A new British pub opens in the Energy Corridor
If you put all of the pubs in Houston owned by expat Michael Holliday over the past 30 years on one block, Houston could have its own Wee Britain. Now the owner of British pubs The Richmond Arms and The Stag's Head has opened a new watering hole in Houston's Energy Corridor.
Despite a strip center location on Eldridge Parkway, The King's Head Pub hails back to royal Britannia with a classic wood features, a large stone fireplace, a portrait of King Henry VIII and a 200-year-old antique sign from London bearing the bar's name.
Beers on draft (pardon, draught) include a mix of locals like Saint Arnolds, Buffalo Bayou and Karbach alongside imported faves like Smithwick's, Boddingtons, Harp and Newcastle. There are also bottled domestics and imports available and a wine list.
During the Euro Cup, the bar is expanding its operating hours, opening at 10:30 to show the matches live and staying open until 2 a.m.
