Conāt can wait: Randy Rucker to cook at t'afia in a farmers market BYOB delight
Urban Harvest is launching a series of one-of-a-kind dinners to show off Houston's bounty of local ingredients and culinary talent. So who better to serve up the inaugural meal than Randy Rucker, whose culinary talent is matched by his fierce devotion to local food.
With a name derived from an obscure term for an edible item, the Esculent Gathering chef series is the brainchild of chef David Leftwich (who will be cooking with Rucker, whose plans for a new restaurant named Conāt are on hold) and Urban Harvest market manager Tyler Horne.
"The idea is to use primarily ingredients from the farmers market . . . and try to highlight items you can get there," Leftwich told Eater Houston.
Urban Harvest's Esculent Gathering with Rucker and Leftwich is BYOB and will take place on June 10 at t'afia, starting at 6 p.m. (Monica Pope will be busy cooking in her backyard at the time). Tickets are $60 plus convenience fee and are on sale here.
