After a year-long partnership, chef Michael Kramer is leaving The Tasting Room. His last day will be May 14.
The partnership has been highly successful for the restaurant mini-chain, as TTR revamped and expanded menus and opened its biggest location to date at CityCentre featuring a large, open kitchen.
"He's been doing all this stuff, revamping the menus, developing the concept and training the kitchens, and we've come to the mutual conclusion that it's time to move on," said Lasco vice president Jonathan Horowitz. "It was a great year of collaboration, but it's run its course."
Sources say the partnership was never really a perfect fit for Kramer — who decamped for The Tasting Room after his culinary program at Voice was dismantled — particularly the time and energy requirements of shuttling between three locations.
The end of the brief Kramer era at TTR leaves many questions unanswered. Was this always meant to be a short-term, consulting position for Kramer? Can the food program at The Tasting Room maintain the tremendous strides achieved since Kramer took over? And where will Michael Kramer end up next?
