More than Just Desserts: Top Chef TV stars head to Houston to help dogs
Rebecca Masson has long recruited her friends to cook at her special dinners, sweetly staged to benefit Lucky Dog Rescue, a cause close to her heart.
But at her next dinner, Masson is also including some friends she made while filming season two of Top Chef Just Desserts. Taking place April 1, Sweet & Savory offers guests to a chance to "sip, savor and stroll" between the nine tasting stations in the lovely gardens of the Ralph Smith Photography Studio.
Expect a mix of sweet and savory bites from Houston chefs Adam Garcia of Revival Market, Cyclone Anaya's Jason Gould and H-Town StrEATS duo Jason Hill and Matt Opaleski, with Ryan Rouse of Grand Prize Bar creating special cocktails alongside wines from Gerard Bertrand and Saint Arnold beer. James Beard Award semifinalist Philip Speer, pastry chef of Uchi and Uchiko in Austin, will also be contributing a dish.
Top Chef "cheftestants" flying in for the event include Carlos Enriquez, Katzie Guy-Hamilton, Amanda Rockman, Megan Ketover and Craig Poirier, plus Masson herself, of course. It's not a competition and not an official Bravo event, but with half of the cast present, feel free to taste them all and whisper to your favorite that you've declared them the winner.
Tickets to Sweet & Savory are available by making a $100 donation in advance to Lucky Dog Rescue. There are only 125 tickets available, and Masson's events always sell out.
