Barbecue for breakfast? Phil's gets in the morning game
It's happened to the best of us.
You wake up bleary eyed in the back of the Washington Wave parking lot with only a vague memory of the Australian rugby team you made out with at an anonymous club the night before.
You deserve something good — maybe not for your behavior, but at least as a reward for not driving home.
Starting this weekend you can check out Phil's Texas Barbecue for something slightly different from the a.m. standards. Phil's and chef Gilbert Arismendez are serving up their house-cured brisket and sausage in breakfast tacos, burritos and omelets on Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to noon.
Or you can go with the ultimate in hangover relief and soak up those Jägerbombs with a classic helping of biscuits and gravy — we like ours paired with a fizzy Coke straight from the fountain.
Why serve breakfast at a barbecue joint? "We wanted to do something a little different, mix it up," Arismendez says.
