CityCentre's luxury hotel begins multi-million dollar renovation
The updates around Houston’s CityCentre continue with a major renovation to the Moran hotel. Owner Midway has announced a multi-million-dollar renovation, the first since the property opened in 2009.
“The Moran CityCentre, named after Midway’s founder Jim Moran, is a signature property within our flagship mixed-use development,” Midway executive Robert Williamson said in a statement. “The renovation seeks to create a destination that distinguishes itself not only in Houston but as a model of hospitality and design. The goal is to blend the essence of Texas with sophisticated elements, ensuring a memorable stay for our guests.”
All 244 guest rooms in the hotel are receiving upgrades, everything from light fixtures and new technology to bed linens and bar carts stocked with Texas spirits like Tito’s Vodka and Garrison Brothers Texas Whiskey. Common areas are also getting a facelift, including a revitalized fitness center with Peloton bikes for the exerciser on the go, a new lobby bar, and changes to the hotel's restaurant. Changes to the entrance and an updated connection to CityCentre's central plaza will make it easier for hotel guests to explore the entire development.

“The Moran CityCentre is committed to providing guests with an enjoyable and relaxing experience,” general manger Steven Terrebonne added. “This renovation is a testament to our commitment to innovation and excellence. We look forward to sharing the refreshed offerings with our guests.”
The Moran is the latest part of CityCentre to get updated. Dow Chemical is building a 19-story office tower in the area. Considering the number of business travelers that come to Dow in Houston, it’s a fair guess that they’ll make up a significant number of those staying at the Moran. That building is slated to open in 2026.
Both are helmed by Midway, who has been one of the largest investment and development companies in Houston for half a century. They are responsible for 55 million square feet of space across their entire portfolio.
CityCentre has also seen an uptick in entertainment spaces recently. Star Cinema Grill will offer both dinner and movies once they complete the takeover of the former Studio Movie Grill space. The updated cinema comes with the latest in movie comforts such as recliners, blankets, and privacy pods. For those who prefer their entertainment live, the Music Box Theater also moved nearby on Queensbury.
