Drake finally confirmed as new owner of $15 million Dos Brisas ranch near Brenham

Drake is reportedly the latest rap icon that can proudly say he's a Texan after purchasing Dos Brisas, a phenomenal 313-acre ranch in Washington located less than 85 miles outside Houston.

As CultureMap reported before the property sold, the $15 million Dos Brisas ranch was originally built in 2002, featuring a grand 14,300-square-foot Mediterranean-style main building. The home is surrounded by gorgeous pecan trees, wildflowers, three stocked ponds, and Peach Creek, providing an abundance of opportunities to enjoy the lovely Texas outdoors.

Several prestigious amenities can be found throughout the property. Drake will surely reap the rewards from the ranch's fully-functioning organic farm, and – if he can find the time – he can employ a new hobby by raising horses thanks to an expansive on-site equestrian facility. For any other outdoor activities, Dos Brisas contains a spacious resort-style pool, hot tub, and a tennis court.

Multiple haciendas are also spread out throughout the ranch, suggesting the rapper could turn the property into an impressive resort business venture if he decided not to keep it all to himself.

Before the buyer snatched up the ranch in October 2023, Dos Brisas had only been on the market for a few months. Its former owners shuttered the formerly famous resort in 2022 after it had been in operation for 17 years. It first appeared on the market in April 2022 with a $17.5 million price tag, which expired in September before it was re-listed at its $15 million price tag in May 2023.

Robb Report was first to report on Drake acquiring the property. Compass agent Tonya Currie, who managed the listing, confirmed the high profile purchase in an email to CultureMap, although she did not use Drake's name. She writes the ranch sold within 90 days at the full list price.

"Dos Brisas is a rare legacy ranch property that offered a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the right buyer, which we were able to find once we listed it bringing the price in line with the market conditions at the time," Currie told CultureMap.

If Drake can really call himself a Texan, hopefully he'll enjoy living the country life just 45 minutes outside Houston. Rap legends love nothing more than to dote on the city, and Drake is no stranger to sharing his appreciation for Houston with the locals. During his September 2023 concert at the Toyota Center, the Canadian-born superstar claimed Houston was "where everything started" for him, even going so far as to call the show a "homecoming."

"Listen, listen — I’m a be honest with y’all," Drake told the exhilarated crowd at the time. "I get the most nervous for Toronto of course, and the second most nervous for y’all."

Lone Woman Ranch, the Hill Country estate where country stars like George Strait, George Jones, and Ace in the Hole Band rehearsed, is up for sale for $19.5 million.

Located 65 miles from San Antonio in Hays County on 675 acres, the secluded ranch once served as an artistic getaway for emerging Texas artists. The property, listed by Olmos Park firm Republic Ranches. is named after the nearby Lone Woman Mountain, and its elevation gives an incredible view of the county. On a clear day, you can see downtown Austin.

The land comes with two residences, both built near the entrance gate. The primary stone house has original hardwood floors, a recently remodeled kitchen and bathrooms, as well as a new HVAC system. The secondary residence was used as a rehearsal space. Both have had long-term residents who made improvements, and both have their own septic systems, wells, and electric meters.

The real appeal of Lone Woman Ranch, however, is the extensive woods, creeks, and natural setting. It is next to 6,000 acres of conservation land, including Storm Ranch. The entire mountain is also included in the property, making it a veritable mini-kingdom for the owner with unobstructed privacy on three sides.

Two ponds are on the site — a 4-acre and a 1-acre — both fully stocked. Runoff from the larger pond creates picturesque seasonal limestone waterfalls.The surrounding woods are full of wildlife, including white-tailed deer, turkeys, doves, and more. The property is under wildlife exemption.

It's little wonder the ranch was a muse to so many country musicians. A network of ranch roads provides access throughout the property, including most of the way up Lone Woman, giving views around every corner. Only Strait can tell you whether his 1996 hit "King of the Mountain" was inspired by the ranch.
