Sale near for River Oaks Bank & Trust office building
The River Oaks Bank & Trust office tower, situated at ground zero of Houston’s most respected blue-chip community, is expected to be sold before the end of the year for approximately $35 million.
The building, located at 2001 Kirby Drive at San Felipe, was built in 1968. The bank tower is next door to the exclusive Huntingdon Tower, a residential building that is home to a number of prominent Houstonians.
The 165,000-square-foot office building, owned by the BBVA Compass banking organization, has been marketed for sale to investors during 2010.
A number of investors have been examining the office building and apparently made offers. Names mentioned as the likely buyer include L&B Realty Advisors of Dallas and an investment group affiliated with Houston’s affluent Cullen family.
The tower has 12 stories of office space, plus a penthouse. The buyer is expected to spend millions to upgrade the building.
