Sweet dreams in style: Two Houston hotels soon-to-be rebranded as part ofSonesta chain
There's a new name coming to the Houston hotel market. The Sonesta Collection is taking over management of the InterContinental Houston Near the Galleria and the Staybridge Suites in the Galleria area. Sonesta has owned and managed upscale hotels, resorts, and cruise ships since 1943, though the current name only dates back to 1970.
The chain operates a smattering of hotels domestically, with locations in Baltimore, Boston, Miami and a well-known outpost on Bourbon Street in New Orleans. The company also has a large presence in South America and Egypt.
The InterContinental, a favorite of charity fundraisers because of its large ballroom, will be renamed The Royal Sonesta Hotel Houston on July 16.
