Realtor Profile
Versatile Houston Realtor advocates for his clients in all capacities
When asked what aspect of the real estate business he values most, native Houstonian and top-producing Martha Turner Sotheby's International Realtor Paul Silverman makes it clear: educating his clients and helping them make an informed decision that's best for them. Excellent customer service wins clients for life, and Silverman's broad knowledge of the Houston market, high ethics, and infinite patience allow him to represent his clients' best interests in all that he does. This is also why he has been a member of the Martha Turner's Circle of Excellence since 2013.
Licensed since 1999, Silverman not only sells existing homes but also serves as a listing broker for high-end builders, new-home sales counselor, new-home construction manager, marketing director, and sales manager. His impressive and ever-growing list of achievements includes the 2008 National Award for Region 5 marketing director of the year, the 2006 PRISM Award for marketing professional of the year, and inclusion as one of four finalists for the 2006 and 2007 Texas Star Awards for marketing professional of the year.
Silverman is positioned squarely at the forefront of leadership and change in the real estate industry, having served with the Houston Association of Realtors MLS Advisory Group, Builder Broker Task Force, as co-chair of the NextGen Realtor Group, and as a member of the board of directors of GHBA Sales and Marketing Council. He was named Custom Builder Council Member of the Year in 2003. As an added bonus to his clients, Silverman is an ordained interfaith minister and can not only find homes for his clients, but can marry them as well.
When not working, Silverman enjoys spending time with his wife, their daughter, and his nieces and nephews. In addition to family time, Silverman is an avid bike rider who has participated in the MS150 and other charity rides.
We chatted with Silverman to find out more about his work and what drives him.
CultureMap: What inspires you to do what you do?
Paul Silverman: I love to help people with the most stressful purchase. I enjoy helping make the process as easy as possible by educating and setting realistic expectations.
CM: What’s one piece of advice you'd give to people looking for their dream home?
PS: Don't make any rush decisions — wait until you find a home that excites you. Make sure your Realtor puts your wishes and needs before their own.
CM: And advice to those who are selling?
PS: Make sure you price your home according to the comparable sales and make sure your Realtor will answer your phone call and not pass you off to a bunch of other team members.
CM: Sum up Houston in three words.
PS: Friendly, diverse, opportunity.
CM: What do you consider your "special skill"?
PS: My skill is developing a rapport with my clients and gaining their trust through educating them and helping them make informed decisions.
CM: What's one thing people might not know about you?
PS: I started my career in new construction, so I have a vast knowledge of the components that go into a home and can use this knowledge in many ways to help my clients. Not every Realtor carries a thermal imaging camera and a moisture meter! I'm not a licensed inspector but I can use my knowledge and tools to help weed out problems when looking at homes or help diagnose when needed.
