Positive thinking
A stiff drink? First bar in former funeral home targets opening
The developers of the old Settegast Kopf funeral spot on Upper Kirby must really believe in the power of positive thinking.
Although the owners of a collection of proposed bars and restaurants are currently involved in a lawsuit with the subdivision's homeowners association — and their plans have still not been approved for permitting — construction is plugging along.
The bar planned for the old bank drive thru — formerly to be called Hendrick's, according to a TABC application filed by a lawyer of the same name — is now being called OTC Patio Bar, and appears to be under the same ownership as the rest of the proposed bars. OTC general manager (as listed on Facebook) Natalie Hollon is also employed as GM at Taps on Washington Ave, another of owners Andy Aweida and Jeff Barati's establishments.
A sign attached to the front of the building says OTC is "Coming Soon!" It adds that the bar is now hiring, with a phone number.
Calls and emails to Hollon have gone unreturned, and developer Blake Tartt hasn't spoken to us in months. We're still checking our messages.
