A New Music Restaurant
Houston is getting a new live music restaurant — and it comes with Montrose cred
Rudyard's British Pub has been a cornerstone of the Montrose community since it opened in 1978, serving up burgers and fries from its kitchen and hosting loud music and live readings in its upstairs lounge. Now it's extending that success northward to Shady Acres.
Owner Lelia Rodgers told the Houston Business Journal that she is planning to open TikTok, a new restaurant-cum-bar-cum-live music venue, at 1412 W. 20th Street next summer.
"The new place will be an extension of what I know how to do," Rodgers said, reassuring followers on Facebook that "Rudz is Rudz. TikTok will be TikTok." The space will hold up to 800 people at a time, approximately 450 to 500 of those in the performance area — a midrange size that's lacking in Houston's music venue market.
"Where Rudyard's is more a bar, this place will have a bar but will be a restaurant in its own right," Rodgers explained of TikTok, which will provide a full liquor lineup, craft beers and select whiskey offerings.
