Upscale Heights townhomes in gated community planned for neartown industrial site
Studemont Heights, a new gated community of 25 three-story brick- and cement board-sided homes "reminiscent of the classic brownstones of other metropolitan cities like London, New York and Chicago," according to a press release, is coming to a portion of the former site of The Detering Co. near Washington Avenue and Studemont Street.
Sullivan Brothers Builders recently made the announcement, adding it is in process of wrapping up the infrastructure for the development at 2900 Hicks St. The townhouses are now available through pre-construction sales with the first homes being complete this summer.
Priced in the mid-$500,000s, each Studemont Heights home will have three bedrooms and three and one-half baths with 2,200 to 2400-plus square feet of living space. Many of the homes will have views of downtown.
"Sullivan Brothers Builders' stringent and thoughtful building practices will offer a low maintenance and beautiful home that will achieve a highly regarded LEED certification," Karen Travelstead, director of sales, says in a statement.
The Houston Chronicle reports that the 5.4 acre Detering property was divided into three segments, each sold to a different buyer. In addition to the Sullivan Brothers development, Dallas-based apartment developer JLB Partners bought almost 3 acres and an undisclosed buyer is scheduled to close on a site fronting Washington Avenue at the end of the month.
