Lawndale Design Fair highlights cutting-edge and vintage styles (with video)
Lawndale Art Center Design Fair 2011 this weekend brings lovers of all things vintage, Mid-century modern and cutting-edge contemporary a shopping bacchanal. Featuring a wide range of dealers showcasing their best finds and creations in furniture, glass, ceramics, lighting, books, metalwork and fashion, one-of-a-kind artful objects will pack the gallery's three floors and exhibition spaces.
Participating vendors include Beatniks, Carol Piper Rugs, CrOp by David Peck, Coronation Vintage, Don Browne, Exquisite Corpse, Booksellers, Mecox Gardens, Michael Wilson, Morgan Elizabeth Designs, Peter Glassford, Smith Opticians, Sunset Settings / Carolyn Brewer and wacdesignstudio.
The Texas Co-Op, curated by University of Houston's Michael Guidry, is an exhibition-style partition of the fair showcasing niche and select objects by local designers including David Tsai, Gertrude Barnstone, Jawda and Jawda Inc., Left Brain Right Brain Design/ Vernon Caldera, The Local Paper, The Dirty Third / Myan Duong, plodes studio/John Paul & Roya Plauché and Robertson Design.

The shopping portion of Lawndale Design Center Design Fair 2011 begins with a Preview Party and Sale on Friday, 6 - 9 p.m., tickets are $60 for Lawndale members and $75 for non-members. Regular fair days are on Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Admission fee is $5.
