Where to shop right now: 10 must-hit stores in December
As the number of shopping days 'til Christmas dwindle, there are plenty of new places to check out, including several shops that have "popped up" for the occasion. Here's our list of new stores that are opening just in the St. Nick of time, along with some tried-and-true shops with some new nifty gift ideas.
The legendary leather crafts company has opened a pop up shop in CityCentre through Dec. 24. A full range of luxurious leather products, including luggage, cowboy boot and hat cases, handbags, iPad cases, travel kits and purses are available at 800 Town & Country Way, Suite 160.
Chan Luu Pop Up Shop at J. Silver
Designer Chan Luu has set up an exclusive holiday pop up shop through Dec. 24 at J. Silver in Rice Village. The shop-within-a-shop offers a huge selection of her signature wrap bracelets, distinctive necklaces, earrings, scarves and other accessories. The J. Silver store is one of only three worldwide locations that Luu decided to set up a holiday pop up shop (the other locations are in Japan and New York at Henri Bendel.)
The Swiss luxury watch maker has landed in Houston, with a glittery new Galleria store featuring a full range of products, including timepieces, eyeglasses, wallets, jackets, mobile phones, belts, bags, bracelets and other jewelry.
Just in time for the holidays, Miuccia Prada's hip brand offers a luxe capsule collection of quilted handbags in laminated calfskin, nappa lux and madras crystal in shades of platinum, geranium and turquoise. Available at the Miu Miu boutique in the Galleria.
Tiffany & Co. 175th anniversary collection
The famed jeweler is celebrating its 175th anniversary with a wide-range of gem-tastic items, including a new collection featuring gemstones that Tiffany introduced to the world.
The Tiffany Anniversary Tanzanite necklace — a 175-carat Tanzanite gem surrounded by a cascade of diamonds — pays tribute to the blue gemstone discovered at the foothills of Tanzania’s Mount Kilimanjaro. Tiffany named the stone after its country of origin and introduced it in 1968.
Those always inventive Sloan Hall boys (Marcus and Shannon) are hosting a three-day pop up DesignerSocial at the store, located at Westheimer and Kirby. It features pre-owned handbags and accessories from such luxe fashion houses as YSL, Chanel, Hermès and Balenciaga. It's a three-day only event (Dec. 12-14) that kicks off with a VIP shopping party. Bring in a handbag to trade for shopping credit.
Shop Now, Spend Later at M Penner
Through Dec. 24, M Penner has a special "Shop Now, Spend Later" program at its Uptown Park location. Get a $25 gift card for every $250 you spend (up to a maximum of $150 for $1,500 spent).
Owners Murry and Karen Penner also have come up with a HaberCash promotion. For every dollar spent at the store, you'll receive 1 HaberCash point. The points can be redeemed for such perks as auto detailing at Alex Rodriguez Mercedes-Benz, gift cards at such eateries as Carraba's, Del Frisco's and the Capital Grille, and a photo session at Gittings.
Neiman Marcus and Target designer collection
The first-ever collaboration between high-end Neiman Marcus and trendy discounter Target has resulted in a holiday collection created by 24 of America's top designers. Our favorite is the Alice + Olivia floral bicycle, $499. The collection is available at all Neiman Marcus and Target stores through Jan. 5.
M·A·C offers a host of limited edition beauty products for holiday gift-giving. Chic satin-tufted compacts with a black patent bow accent add a touch of Fabulousness while the M·A·C Viva Glam collection includes Viva Glam Ricky Lip Conditioner and Nicki Lipstick in a leopard pouch. All proceeds from VIVA GLAM products are donated to the M·A·C AIDS Fund. Available through Dec. 27 at M·A·C stores in the Galleria, Rice Village, Memorial City Mall, The Woodlands Mall and other Houston-area locations.
The west Houston shopping hub is celebrating the holidays with a special promotion for last-minute shoppers. Beginning Dec. 20, the “12 Days of CITYCENTRE” will highlight a variety of parties, special offerings and discounts at district shops and restaurants.
