As the number of shopping days 'til Christmas dwindle, there are plenty of new places to check out, including several shops that have "popped up" for the occasion. Here's our list of new stores that are opening just in the St. Nick of time, along with some tried-and-true shops with some new nifty gift ideas.

    King Ranch Saddle Shop

The legendary leather crafts company has opened a pop up shop in CityCentre through Dec. 24. A full range of luxurious leather products, including luggage, cowboy boot and hat cases, handbags, iPad cases, travel kits and purses are available at 800 Town & Country Way, Suite 160.

Chan Luu Pop Up Shop at J. Silver

Designer Chan Luu has set up an exclusive holiday pop up shop through Dec. 24 at J. Silver in Rice Village. The shop-within-a-shop offers a huge selection of her signature wrap bracelets, distinctive necklaces, earrings, scarves and other accessories. The J. Silver store is one of only three worldwide locations that Luu decided to set up a holiday pop up shop (the other locations are in Japan and New York at Henri Bendel.)

    TAG Heuer

The Swiss luxury watch maker has landed in Houston, with a glittery new Galleria store featuring a full range of products, including timepieces, eyeglasses, wallets, jackets, mobile phones, belts, bags, bracelets and other jewelry.

    Miu Miu holiday collection

Just in time for the holidays, Miuccia Prada's hip brand offers a luxe capsule collection of quilted handbags in laminated calfskin, nappa lux and madras crystal in shades of platinum, geranium and turquoise. Available at the Miu Miu boutique in the Galleria.

Tiffany & Co. 175th anniversary collection

The famed jeweler is celebrating its 175th anniversary with a wide-range of gem-tastic items, including a new collection featuring gemstones that Tiffany introduced to the world.

The Tiffany Anniversary Tanzanite necklace — a 175-carat Tanzanite gem surrounded by a cascade of diamonds — pays tribute to the blue gemstone discovered at the foothills of Tanzania’s Mount Kilimanjaro. Tiffany named the stone after its country of origin and introduced it in 1968.

    DesignerSocial at Sloan/Hall

Those always inventive Sloan Hall boys (Marcus and Shannon) are hosting a three-day pop up DesignerSocial at the store, located at Westheimer and Kirby. It features pre-owned handbags and accessories from such luxe fashion houses as YSL, Chanel, Hermès and Balenciaga. It's a three-day only event (Dec. 12-14) that kicks off with a VIP shopping party. Bring in a handbag to trade for shopping credit.

Shop Now, Spend Later at M Penner

Through Dec. 24, M Penner has a special "Shop Now, Spend Later" program at its Uptown Park location. Get a $25 gift card for every $250 you spend (up to a maximum of $150 for $1,500 spent).

Owners Murry and Karen Penner also have come up with a HaberCash promotion. For every dollar spent at the store, you'll receive 1 HaberCash point. The points can be redeemed for such perks as auto detailing at Alex Rodriguez Mercedes-Benz, gift cards at such eateries as Carraba's, Del Frisco's and the Capital Grille, and a photo session at Gittings.

Neiman Marcus and Target designer collection

The first-ever collaboration between high-end Neiman Marcus and trendy discounter Target has resulted in a holiday collection created by 24 of America's top designers. Our favorite is the Alice + Olivia floral bicycle, $499. The collection is available at all Neiman Marcus and Target stores through Jan. 5.

    M·A·C holiday collection

M·A·C offers a host of limited edition beauty products for holiday gift-giving. Chic satin-tufted compacts with a black patent bow accent add a touch of Fabulousness while the M·A·C Viva Glam collection includes Viva Glam Ricky Lip Conditioner and Nicki Lipstick in a leopard pouch. All proceeds from VIVA GLAM products are donated to the M·A·C AIDS Fund. Available through Dec. 27 at M·A·C stores in the Galleria, Rice Village, Memorial City Mall, The Woodlands Mall and other Houston-area locations.

    CityCentre

The west Houston shopping hub is celebrating the holidays with a special promotion for last-minute shoppers. Beginning Dec. 20, the “12 Days of CITYCENTRE” will highlight a variety of parties, special offerings and discounts at district shops and restaurants.

    RODEO RUNWAY

Western glam takes over as RodeoHouston fans dress to impress

Houstonians have dusted off their boots and rhinestones as the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is in full swing. Already one of the largest events in Texas, the crowds are continuing to grow. In 2025, more than 2.7 million people attended RodeoHouston, and this year the event is already on track for record-breaking numbers.

Livestock competitions, carnival rides, deep-fried food, and headlining concerts are the official reasons people come to the rodeo. Unofficially, however, people watching has become a sport all its own. The crowded walkways on RodeoHouston grounds transform into a Western-themed runway, where personal style is just as much of the experience as enjoying deep-fried Oreos or a Ferris wheel ride.

A wide range of outfits is always on display. Some attendees go all in with head-to-toe sequins, fringe on everything, and dramatically decorated hats. Others keep things casual with denim, boots, and graphic t-shirts, while groups of friends will often coordinate themed outfits for concert nights.

No matter the style, there are two must-have accessories: cowboy hats and boots. Hats serve a dual purpose for both fashion and protection from the sun during daytime events. Boots are essential to rodeo style, but sometimes come with a painful learning curve.

Many attendees walk more than a mile from the parking lot to the grounds, and after exploring, they often add more than 20,000 steps. For those who did not properly break in their boots, the end of the day can involve blisters and a slow walk to the car, boots in hand.

“Rodeo fashion is so fun. My friends and I planned out outfits together, and we made sure we broke in our boots before tonight,” Teresa Delgado tells CultureMap. “When you are from Houston, you only make that mistake once.”

Some days have them whether it's official or it's an unspoken trend. When Megan Moroney took the stage, pink was the color of the concert, inspired by Moroney's album Cloud 9. Nearly 70,000 attendees filled the stadium in everything from flouncy pink ruffled outfits to bright neon boots and hats.

“We have really been looking forward to this concert,” said Ashley Little from Cypress. “I didn't think too much about my outfit at first, but my daughter wanted to coordinate, so here we are wearing pink together.”

Between carnival rides, mutton busting, and nightly concerts, the rodeo has plenty to see, but some of the most memorable moments are stopping to notice that fashion is just another part of the show.
