luxury garage sale returns
Steal chic names like Chanel, Gucci, and more at this luxe Rice Village garage sale
When Luxury Garage Sale opens its popup next week at 2528 Amherst St. in Rice Village, shoppers with a desire for something unique and high-end are in for a treat.
The Chicago-based luxury consignment brand was a hit when it rolled into Houston last spring, and now it’s poised to bring an ever bigger selection of designer clothing, handbags, shoes, and accessories to H-Town.
“We’re bringing our largest Louis Vuitton selection, more than 20 different styles,” says Luxury Garage Sale co-founder Lindsay Segal. “Some super rare and unique items.”
Segal says the retailer has also packed the store with more than 10 different Chanel styles, plus selections from Louboutin, Hermes, Gucci, Alaïa, Valentino, and more. She says there’s also — for the first time in Houston — a selection of menswear. Everything, she emphasizes, is highly curated, including the shopping experience.
“We typically arrange our boutiques by color story,” she says. “We want our guests to come in and not only see what might catch their eye, but also be able to engage with our stylists. We sought to develop an experience that’s not like traditional retail. We aim to be your fashion partner.”
To create this shoppers’ paradise, Segal and her business partner Brielle Buchberg built a consignment brand that was laser-focused on high-end designers. Founded in 2011 and with brick-and-mortar boutiques in Chicago, Dallas, Minneapolis, and Seattle, as well as online, Segal says the brand was founded to address what she and Buchberg felt was a hole in the retail market.
“We saw a need for high fashion, luxury brands combined with a customer-service focus,” she says. “People want to purchase designer fashions, and we realized we could offer that in a space at deep discounts.”
Luxury Garage Sale sources its items from closets and boutiques from around the country. Some might come from a woman who’s ushering out items from last season to make way for new pieces. Others might be from shops with excess inventory. Each piece is individually evaluated and curated for LGS’ audience, and Segal says shoppers can expect to snag high-end goods for 60 to 90 percent discounts over retail.
For Houston fashionistas looking to clear out their own wardrobes, LGS offers no-appointment consignment. Bring in your items to the Rice Village popup and they’ll be evaluated on the spot. If you care to have LGS come to your place for a more private meeting, Segal says the retailer is more than happy to accommodate. Call the boutique and set a time.
The Rice pop-up comes right at the start of the holiday shopping season, and LGS’ founders are super excited to return to the Bayou City.
When we first came to Houston, we popped up at River Oaks Shopping Center, which was a great location to attract new customers and reach our core demographic,” says Buchberg in a press release announcing the popup “Now that we’re returning, we’ve selected Rice Village because we hope to connect to new customers who live in the surrounding neighborhoods while continuing to reach our current base. Rice Village offers an exceptional location.”
“We’re really excited to come back to Houston,” says Segal. “We’re looking forward to connecting with the customers we met last spring, and meeting new people.”
