Where's Rick Perry?
Step aside, Barbie: New Texas A&M Yell Leader dolls put the cheerleaders to shame
Mattel’s recently released University Barbies aren’t all clad in cheerleading outfits with the logo of an educational institution embroidered across their plastic chests. In fact, two dolls don’t even have the traditional pom poms as, uh . . . accessories.
The University Barbies 2013 collection introduces a couple of Ken dolls as Aggie Yell Leaders, creating the perfect holiday gift for all the good little Aggies out there.
Here’s the description from BarbieCollector.com:
"Rally round, Aggies! Ken® doll joins the Texas A&M cheer squad in a white jumpsuit and red athletic shoes with articulated arms ready to basket toss or build a pyramid. ‘We're gonna beat you all to Chigaroogarem, rough, tough, real stuff, Texas A&M!' "
The Ken Yell Leader doll, which bears no resemblance to the most famous Aggie Yell Leader of all — Gov. Rick Perry — retails for $24.95.
Other dolls in the 2013 collection include Barbie-shaped female cheerleaders from the University of Kentucky and Oklahoma. They join female cheerleader dolls from the University of Tennessee, LSU, the University of Alabama and Auburn University from earlier in the series.
