Tory Burch is beachy keen with casual collection made for the great outdoors
Since Tory Burch looked to the bold graphics of legendary interior designer David Hicks for her spring 2018 collection, she found a location that fit into her design theme — the outdoor courtyard of the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum in the tony surroundings of New York's Upper East Side.
On a picture perfect day, it was a breathtaking runway setting for Burch's brand, which promises a sunny lifestyle of affordable luxury for her legions of fans.
Some of the collection's highlights are made for the beach, with a kaleidoscope-print bikini and tunics, caftans, and shorts made of colorful T-print terrycloth towel fabric. And if you aren't up to dressing in terrycloth, Burch offers the T-print beach towel as an accessory instead.
Graphic patterns abound in a series of day dresses in bold scarf-print silk fabrics, perforated floral skirts, and balloon-print pants. And Burch, who also produces a Tory Sport line of activewear, sprinkles in sports tech windbreakers in diamond prints and Hick-inspired interlocking tile patterns, with matching totes.
Burch also excels at accessories, and models sometimes seemed weighed down in jewelry, towels and totes. But it may be hard to resist that fidget spinner pendant necklace.
